Bring information about real estate, accounts and any existing trust, along with your questions about beneficiaries or decision makers. The discussion can address your actual holdings without relying on a general estimate of local property values.

Review ownership as well as value

Separate the value of an asset from the way it is owned. For each property or account, record the owner, any trust title or beneficiary designation and the documents supporting that information. After a death, an estimated date-of-death value is part of the inventory; it does not by itself establish which transfer procedure applies.

Prepare the people who may need to act

Planning also involves people. Consider whether your proposed trustee or other decision maker is willing and able to serve, and identify an alternate. Discuss access to records and the location of signed documents. A plan is easier to use when the nominated people know where to find the information they will need.

Choose the service for your Tiburon situation

Review the plan when family circumstances, ownership or your wishes change. The appropriate documents and any follow-up work depend on the particular situation.

Group 23

Probate Administration

Discuss probate petitions, required notices, court filings and the responsibilities of a court-appointed personal representative. The proposed engagement should identify the work the firm will handle.

Group 25

Probate Services

Review estate assets, ownership records, creditor issues and any inventory or appraisal requirements. The necessary steps depend on the property and proceeding.

Group 29

Estate Planning

Prepare or review wills, trusts, financial powers of attorney and health-care documents, together with titles and beneficiary arrangements. A will alone does not avoid probate.

Group 31

Review the trust, its amendments and the assets actually held by it. Property outside the trust may require a different transfer process.

Records and next steps for your matter

If an estate includes property in more than one county, note each property’s location and gather the available ownership records. Real-property records are held by the recorder in the county where the property is located. Keep that records question separate from the question of where a probate case belongs.

Understand the proposed fees and expenses

Before representation begins, confirm the scope of work, communication arrangements and the next tasks you and your attorney will handle.

Official Marin County probate resources

Bring the property ownership records alongside any probate papers you have received. The Marin County court probate resources supply general probate information, while the examiner’s review is limited to procedural correctness. The attorney can discuss whether the question concerns lifetime planning, trust administration or a probate proceeding.

I'm extremely happy with the trust documents Lukas prepared for me. He was very professional, friendly and patiently explained the documents in detail for me. He answered all of my questions to my toral satisfaction. The entire process was accomplished very quickly and throughly. The cost of the package was, in my opinion, very fair. It was actually a real pleasure meeting and working with Lukas and Daniel to do the final signing to finish off the package.

I met with Lucas today and finalized my Living Trust and Health directive. I was glad to go thru the many pages and clarify all of the documents with Lucas. It made it easier to understand it. Lucas was really patient and also met with the notary which was Daniel Dada. He arrived on time and we got everything signed. I would definitely recommend Codi and Lucas to anyone in the future. Thank you.

Lucas and Codi first provided clear advice and then proceeded to create a new Grant Deed to replace an existing one that had an error. Done efficiently and quickly. Thanks!

I am currently working with Codi M. Dada to handle my late father’s estate. Probate is a long and confusing process, but Codi has been very helpful in getting the paperwork started so I can be named as the administrator of the estate. He is professional, explains the statutory fees under the California Probate Code clearly , and has made a difficult time much easier to navigate. I highly recommend him if you are just starting this process!

I couldn’t recommend a better attorney for the probate process. Codi genuinely has the heart of a teacher and makes sure you understand every step from start to finish. He takes the time to walk through everything in plain, easy-to-understand terms, never rushes you, and answers questions thoroughly. His pricing is very reasonable, and the clarity and support he provides throughout the process made a stressful situation feel manageable.

Codi was wonderful in helping to prepare a family trust. He is kind, patient, trustworthy, and most importantly, skilled and knowledgeable in all things trust related. He felt more like a friend than a hired professional. I highly recommend reaching out if you are in need of his services.

Tiburon estate questions

Do I need a trust if I already have a will in Tiburon?

A will’s existence and a general estimate of property value are not enough to choose the right plan. List how each property and account is owned, including trust title or beneficiary information. The review can then address your actual holdings and intended beneficiaries instead of assuming that one document is right for every household.

Bring your existing trust or will and the questions you want reviewed, then use the pricing page to discuss the firm’s planning options. Ask which document review or preparation work and expenses are included. A published planning price should not be treated as a quote for administering an estate after a death.

Compare the current plan with your family circumstances, intended beneficiaries and the way assets are held. If those no longer agree, bring the differences to the attorney. Include any trust amendments and recent ownership records so the discussion addresses a specific change rather than an assumption about neighborhood property prices.

Bring the current trust and amendments together with the deeds and account information. A change to the wording of a trust does not by itself show how an asset is titled. Identify property outside the trust and any beneficiary or joint-ownership arrangements so the appropriate transfer questions can be reviewed separately.

Review the current trust and amendments before discussing a successor. Consider whether the proposed person can carry out the role, how that person would locate the records and who could serve as an alternate. A list of names alone does not answer the practical questions about the documents and assets involved.

A will can direct property governed by it and nominate an executor; a trust concerns property held under its terms. Bring the complete will, trust and amendments, then compare them with the asset records. That comparison can reveal questions that neither a document’s name nor an old asset list answers.

A financial power of attorney concerns financial matters, while an advance health care directive concerns health-care decisions. Include both in a review of the people named in your plan and any alternates. Bring the signed documents so questions can be addressed using the arrangements that actually exist.

Bring the latest deed or account title, available beneficiary information and the signed plan or amendments you want reviewed. Identify what you believe changed and which supporting record is missing. Keeping ownership evidence together helps separate a document-update question from an asset-title question.
